My law firm, The Law Firm of James M. Jernigan, PLLC, is built on the principle of providing prompt service of the highest quality to all of its clients.  I am committed to providing expeditious and sensible advice and counsel, and I consider myself lucky to have had the opportunity to serve as many people as I have over the last ten years in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, Monroe, Genesee, and Jackson counties. 

In the last decade, I have not had two clients whose issues have been identical.  Clients consult with attorneys when they have issues that require resolution.  Sometimes, a client needs assistance with positive matters, such as starting a company or purchasing property or a business. 

Quite often, however, a client needs help with a difficult situation.  If a person is getting divorced, or splitting with a business partner, is forced to collect from a vendor who has failed to deliver service pursuant to an agreement, or, worse, if a client has gotten into criminal trouble of some kind, then the client needs someone who will be honest with him or her and work out the best solution possible, given the situation.  Many times, that means digging in and fighting.  Sometimes, though, a more conservative approach is wise.  Attorneys are not miracle workers, but they can provide tremendous assistance in tough times by providing conscientious and prudent advice specifically fashioned to a particular situation and client.

Education is a crucial component of providing competent advice. My diversified training allows me to follow trends in the law and provide excellent and up-to-date service to my clients.  I have always been dedicated to continuing my legal education in diverse areas of practice in order to effectively serve my clients in areas such as family law, commercial litigation, general civil litigation, and criminal law.
